WIRED are recruiting – we currently have 4 Trustee Vacancies

WIRED is looking to expand its current Board of Trustees to 12. There are currently 8 trustess and the organisation is hoping to attract candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds and a broad cross-section of society with values that align with WIRED’s organisational ethos.

What are we looking for?

As a Trustee you will play a vital role in shaping the future of WIRED and the services that it delivers. WIRED currently delivers a wide range of services to support unpaid carers, parent carers and people with a disability. Our full range of services can be viewed on this website by using the navigation tabs at the top of each page.

WIRED is looking for candidates that will be committed to governing the organisation effectively in order to promote transparency, accountability, and the efficient use of resources to fulfil the charity’s purpose and comply with legal requirements.

Key areas of governance that are the responsibility of the WIRED Board of Trustees include;

  • Strategic Direction: The board is responsible for setting the charity’s long-term goals, mission, and objectives.
  • Accountability and Transparency: Ensuring that the charity is open about its activities and decisions, and that it is accountable to the public, beneficiaries, and regulators.
  • Compliance and Legality: Adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and its own governing documents, such as a constitution or trust deed.
  • Effective Management and Oversight: Implementing systems for managing finances, staff, and volunteers, and overseeing all operations.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and addressing potential risks that could hinder the charity’s work or mission.
  • Decision-Making: Establishing clear processes for making sound, informed decisions that align with the charity’s charitable purposes. Association for Disability.
  • Meeting attendance: Availability to attend 6 by-monthly board meetings per year and to attend face to face and/or online training as required.

Joining WIRED’s Board of Trustees is an excellent opportunity to use your experience, knowledge and skills to make a difference. You may have used WIRED service’s in the past or you may simply feel that your values, attitude and approach are a good fit with WIRED.

WIRED Trustees are not remunerated, however, they are entitled to be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred as a result of approved business undertaken on behalf of the organisation.

WIRED Trustees are also required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as appropriate for the role.

WIRED reserves the right to decline applications from individuals where their conflict of interest is at a level that will prevent them from practically functioning as a Trustee.
