Children (and adults) can experience sensory differences that limit their participation or prevent them from doing activities that people of a similar age manage easily. When this happens, they may benefit from specialist help.
This resource outlines the three main groups of sensory intervention approaches:
• Performance or Goal-Oriented Sensory Approaches • Sensory based interventions • Ayres Sensory Integration Intervention
The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Organisations Group (SENDIOG) is a network of like-minded organisations who provide free and impartial advice to children, young people and their families.
SENDIOG aims to:
- Share information on SEND trends, policy and practice - Feed back to the Department for Education and other relevant bodies on significant trends or concerns identified by group members - Identify training needs and opportunities - Develop positive working relationships and mutual support - Work in partnership to ensure parents and children and young people have access to relevant information and advice services - Support the complementary and separate roles of each partner in order to improve efficiency and reduce duplication
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed looking at your child’s EHC plan, you’re not alone.
Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are split into 11 sections, each with a different purpose.
There is no national standard format for the EHC plan. However it must have certain, clearly-labelled sections 👇
📑 Section A: The views, interests and aspirations of you and your child. Your child’s story, in your words. 📑 Section B: Their special educational needs (SEN) 📑 Section C: Health needs related to SEN 📑 Section D: Social care needs related to SEN 📑 Section E: Outcomes – how the extra help will benefit your child 📑 Section F: The provision to meet needs (this section must be specific and legally binding) 📑 Section G: Health provision 📑 Section H: Social care provision 📑 Section I: Type and name of school or other institution. (This is blank in the draft plan.) 📑 Section J: Personal budget (if applicable) 📑 Section K: Reports and evidence used to write the plan
Parent Invitation: Help Us Test a New Online EHC Needs Assessment Request System
We are inviting a small group of parents to help us test a new online system that the Local Authority is developing for requesting an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment.
Important: THIS IS A TEST ONLY.
COMPLETING THIS TEST WILL NOT RESULT IN AN ACTUAL EDUCATION HEALTH AND CARE NEEDS ASSESSMENT.
Completing this test will NOT result in an actual EHC Needs Assessment request.
You don't need to have applied for an EHC Needs Assessment before to help. If you have a child with SEND then you can participate.
Please complete the form linked in comments below. Once we have enough people to test the new system the form will be closed. Thank you for your help.
