Using Zoom

In the past couple of months our way of communicating and living has changed dramatically. We are also trying to find ways of engaging with carers virtually/online, using the internet to keep on supporting you in this difficult time. So with that in mind we are still celebrating Carers Week 2020 ‘Making Caring Visible’ and have lots of activities for you to join in with.

We are hosting virtual session throughout the week using Zoom. There will be an online quiz.

As Zoom is new to us all, we do have a few guidelines to follow.

Please read these before requesting to attend the sessions

These guidelines are to ensure that everyone that joins our ‘Virtual Coffee Mornings/Mindfulness Meditation’ sessions have a good experience. Please read through these and try to abide by them throughout the session.

  1. If you are not speaking in the session, please make sure to keep your microphone muted so it does not interfere with everyone's audio.
  2. There should be limited outside distractions during our session (i.e., there should not be other people or animals around you, or anything too distracting on the walls – inappropriate posters, etc. while in the session).
  3. All background noise should be kept to a minimum during the session (i.e., TV sound, radios, dogs barking, etc.). Try to be in a quiet environment.
  4. Position your camera properly. If you choose to use a web camera, be sure it is in a stable position and focused at eye level, if possible.
  5. Be respectful of others while they are talking. Stay off your phones, other devices, and social media to respect others in the session.
  6. When you have a question or something you'd like to say, you can use the raise hand function located in the Participant panel.
  7. Identify yourself before you start to speak, please state your name so we know who is talking. Everyone might not recognize your voice.
  8. Speak slowly and clearly. Please try not to talk over another speaker. If there are multiple participants, people tend to talk at the same time – making conversations extremely difficult to understand. Try to speak one at a time so that we can follow your point in its entirety.
  9. NO screen shots or pictures are to be taken during a session without express permission from everyone in the session. WIRED will collect consent from participants when booking on the session - these will be for WIRED Carers Support promotional purposes only (these will only be taken if everyone in the group consents).
  10. Your session will be ended if you use offensive or racist language. You will not be allowed to join any other session with us

If you have any questions; about any of the guidelines or if you think of any guidelines that should also be included, please let us know before the session starts.
